STEM Lab Assistant - Madison Elementary 

Reports to: Principal/Madison Elementary School STEM Coach

General Summary: The STEM Lab Assistant assists the STEM coach and certified teachers in providing a safe learning environment where children’s individual needs are met. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Supports the STEM Lab/Madison STEM instruction with varying job responsibilities with an emphasis on material preparation to ensure effective STEM instruction 
  • Assists the teacher with the learning activities of students and preparation of students' instruction materials for STEM lessons
  • Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, recess, field trips, lunch times, dismissal, and classrooms as needed.
  • Inventory STEM materials (i.e. Lego kits)
  • Inform STEM Coach of materials that need ordered or need maintenance
  • Deliver/retrieve STEM materials to and from teachers
  • Keep inventory of STEM materials (locate missing kits if needed)
  • Assist with labs when needed
  • Clean up and set up of labs (setup tables, chairs, wash dishes and resources needed)
  • Wash/dry lab coats in school laundry
  • Regular maintenance of STEM lab- sweep, dust, wipe tables down, restock resources
  • Feed & water STEM critters and clean cages (if applicable - currently no critters)
  • Clean and organize STEM & Technology storage rooms
  • Inventory Technology resources
  • Be familiar with all inventory to help meet the needs of teachers
  • Communicate effectively with STEM Coach
  • Performs other reasonably-related duties as may be assigned by the principal or supervising teacher/paraprofessional 

 Qualifications

  • Education – High School Diploma (minimum/required); Ability/willingness to pass the ParaPro Assessment 
  • Excellent written and oral communications are required.
  • Ability to work effectively with a team.
  • Ability to work overtime from time to time may be required.

Position Type: Part time (20 hours per week), non-exempt

Length of Position: 36 weeks (for the school year)
