Student Council Update

Standing in for President Lilly Chaney, Secretary Griffin Roe provided a detailed update on class activities, fundraising efforts, and upcoming events.
Class Updates
Freshman Class:
The freshman class is collecting donations through creative activities, such as paper airplane contests during halftime at home Tiger games. Additionally, classes are competing for a pizza party by raising the most funds.Sophomore Class:
The sophomore class recently hosted their Snowball event at the Career Center, which was well-received by attendees.Junior Class:
Plans are underway for prom, scheduled for May 3rd, from 8:00 to 11:00 PM, in the high school’s front entrance. Tickets are priced at $20, and the theme will be announced soon.Senior Class:
Seniors are preparing for a semi-formal event on February 1st at the Center Lake Pavilion.Additionally, their CCS fundraiser results are in, with Wawasee High School raising $700 and Warsaw High School contributing $1,410.80.
Theatre Department Highlights
Griffin also shared exciting updates from the Theatre Department:
A costume and prop clean-out fundraiser is being held to support future productions.
The Cabaret Night, featuring current students and alumni, will take place next month in the Black Box Theatre.
Preparations for the spring musical, Mamma Mia! are well underway.
Griffin’s update demonstrated the student body’s creativity, engagement, and commitment to both school spirit and community support.
District 3 Candidate Representative Selection
Presented by Heather Reichenbach
Mrs. Heather Reichenbach provided an update on the selection process for the District 3 Candidate Representative, which was conducted in accordance with state statute. As there are six remaining board members, four votes are required for a majority decision. With one member absent (Denny Duncan), the selection process was completed by the five attending members.
Board Deliberations
By a unanimous vote of 5-0, the board selected Melissa Kissling as the new District 3 Representative. Board members expressed their enthusiasm for Melissa’s ability to bring valuable insights and leadership to the board.
Brad Johnson highlighted Melissa's exceptional qualifications, including her prior experience within the district, her understanding of board policies, and her thorough preparation for the role.
Matt Deuel noted Melissa's active involvement with the Tiger Ambassadors program and her work within the schools, emphasizing her ability to transition seamlessly into the position.
Randy Polston praised her "can-do attitude" and readiness to contribute immediately.
Tom Westerhof agreed and added that he is excited to add Melissa to the team and thrilled for what she will bring to the board
Heather Reichenbach commended all three candidates for their strong qualifications and dedication to the community, emphasizing Melissa's prior board experience as a key advantage.

Dr. Hoffert took time to celebrate several key achievements during the meeting:
Graduation Success:
He proudly announced the district’s exceptional graduation rate of 98.1%, applauding the hard work and dedication of both students and staff in achieving this milestone.Board Appreciation:
In honor of Board Appreciation Month, Dr. Hoffert recognized the board for their tireless dedication to the district. He highlighted that board members invest an average of 10+ hours per week supporting students and district initiatives. Their commitment to pouring into the community was celebrated with heartfelt gratitude.To mark the occasion, each board member was presented with a certificate of appreciation for their service.
These celebrations underscore the district’s commitment to excellence and the collaborative efforts of staff, students, and board members in building a thriving school community.
